The project is to provide a pond on land close to the source pond. The land is part of the Shorley Farm Estate and the location is shown below in the photographs.
The trees are those surrounding the source pond which lies on National Trust land.
As shown in the diagram, the provision of the pond provides two advantages. The first is the ecological benefits and the second is shown in the diagram. It will be fed via a pipe under the Kilmeston Road from the Source Pond. There will be an outlet back into the emerging River Itchen (Cheriton Stream) controlled by a new sluice gate which will also provide another mechanism which will help towards the Cheriton Village flood prevention.
