Monkey Flower is an invasive species which spreads by the air but clogs river banks.
The stretch of water being worked on is the Kilmeston Stream from under the A272, past its confluence with the Bramdean Stream. The team worked last year to clear from the A272 to the confluence. This month’s task was to monitor the success of the previous weeding and to remover Monkey Flower completely.
Previous work has been successful and so the work concentrated on its spread downstream from the confluence.
What is a frustration is that Monkey Flower is available in garden centres.
