The UIRCIC organised a meeting of interest parties including ourselves. It was held at Bishops’ Sutton Village Hall. The meeting opened at 7:00pm.

It was very well attended.

There was a series of presentations.

Ian Diver provided the introduction

Dr Martin Burton gave a technical insight into the problems faced by the River Itchen.

Howard Boardman described the aims of the UIRCIC and the collaboration of other groups.

Barry Frampton then gave a presentation of the achievements of the CCVG.

Tom Gregory introduced the Alreside Meadow project. This is a stretch of the River Arle between passing under the Watercress Line embankment. between New Alresford and Bishop’s Sutton and the entry to Alresford Pond.

This map gives an indication of the approximate area covered by the Alreside Meadow Project. It lies to the North of the old A31 into New Alresford.

Maggie Shelton gave a short speech on the demise of the Watercress & Winterbourne Partnership.

This organisation, which has been of great help to us will be wound up in a short time. We hope our association with the UIRCIC will give the support we have already been given.

For her support and understanding the UIRCIC gave her a bouquet of flowers.

There was a break for a little while after which there was a Brains Trust Q&A session..

The meeting finished about 9:30pm.
