The River Itchen has three main trbutries:
- Kilmeston Stream
- Bramdean Stream
- Cheriton Stream
The work was focussed on the Kilmeston Stream. This begins in the source pond lying on the Hinton Ampner estate belonging to the National Trust. It then passes under the B3046 into a field maintained by a local farmer. It them flows onto more National Trust land before passing under the A272 after which it passes fields to join with the Bramdean Stream.
The following images show the final stretch of the river crossing the final National Trust land before the A272 on three dates:

30th November 2025
13th August 2014

3rd November 2017
This section of the stream has recently undergone an extensive period of refurbishment.
Concerning the section immediately following the passage under the A272, the river weed has been very troublesome, this year, due to the long drought period and the very hot summer.
In order to open the channel to improve the river flow during the anticipated winter weather, the last section of river weed cutting from the A272 towards the village was undertaken with the intention preparing it for the Winter storms.
The following images show this section from the A272 looking towards Cheriton Village.

30th November 2025
13th August 2014

17th November 2017
16th February 2018

We now have the river flowing ready for the breeding season for the Water Voles habitats and the Wild Brown Trout spawning grounds .
This completes the calendar year programme for 2025.
